Why you would use GIS-mapping on your property
GIS-based planning of your property allows you to model different grazing, cropping and infrastructure solutions before you outlay the money. It gives you control of your property in a digital format which obviates the need to remember what pipeline went where for example in years to come.
Once your rural property (including grazing, irrigation, broadacre, horticulture) is mapped, the following options become possible:-
- Easy to interpret geographic information with no investment in the technologies employed
- Colour printed and/or digital maps can be provided. Colour transparencies can also be supplied
- On-demand production of new views of geographic information to suit changing plans
- GPS-based latitude / longitude positioning with altitude and other information for pipeline and tank planning
- As required production and use of custom or standard symbology to suit your property
- Paddock, catchment, conservation, riparian and other areas calculated and displayed for compliance purposes
- Placement modelling (eg. gravity vs high pressure water feeds).
Geographic information can be maintained or extended as required over time.
(Picture at left shows areas of bladey grass as mapped on a grazing property to determine extent of remediation work required including calculating quantity of pasture seed needed for replacement etc)
